He wiped the tears from her eyes, stroking his thumbs down the rest of her cheek for good measure. He stared into where her gaze should have met his back, but was not perturbed when she continued to cry. Having her near, her small quivering arms wrapped gingerly around his waist, that was good enough for now.

"You know I didn't want to do this to you."
"I figured as much."

It wasn't really the answer he was looking for, but at the very least she had said something to him. Anything, at this point, was sufficient really. He wasn't going to be picky. He wrapped his arms tightly around her, pulling her so close it was as if he wanted to quell her tears by smothering them in his tee. But tears can't be "smothered" That's what you do with fire. With anger. But tears aren't like that, they're just water. Liquid proof that someone is breaking down on the inside. The indication of someone wearing their heart on their sleeve, and reaching a point where they don't give a damn as to who's looking anymore.

She gave a pointed sniffle, shifting her weight so his grip came undone on her small frame. The near unnoticeable gesture hurt him, but only slightly. After all, what did he have to complain about? He let his arms drop, awkwardly dangling them at the side of his body.

She inhaled and said, "Goodbye, then." She turned with a spin on her heel, and ran off. Like an old bandaid, she had ripped away. Just like that. She had done it quick and in hopes to make the pain short and durable.

He strained to follow the ghost of her figure, and wondered if injuries by water healed quickly.

Just felt like writing; Probably a side effect to me reading again. I always have these random scenes in my head that are begging to be written out, but usually 1) I'm not near my computer and 2) I write them and realize I basically killed the innocent plot bunny that didn't deserve to be butchered by my writing ability :(
